DOWSE movie guide review of The Pirates Of Silicon Valley

The Pirates Of Silicon Valley
Director: Martyn Burke
92 minutes (12) Warner
review by Tony Lee

A true story, this tells of the, now legendary, rise to fame - from minor computer nerd to richest man in the universe - of Bill Gates, king of Microsoft. ER's Noah Wyle plays his former colleague and archrival, Steve Jobs while, ironically, Anthony Michael Hall - the star of Weird Science - plays obscenely wealthy Gates. Lots of talking heads in comic asides make this a quirky but generally quite tolerable drama, and the scenes with stiff IBM executives are admirably underplayed.
